What our patients say

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Your therapist will perform a thorough initial examination to identify the appropriate course of treatment based upon your clinical presentation. Your therapist will first talk with you by reviewing your medical history, ask questions about your current condition(s), and listen to your concerns. Following all the talking, a physical evaluation involving postural assessment, range of motion, muscle strength and endurance testing, flexibility, gait analysis, special tests, and sensory testing is necessary to gather objective findings to identify an appropriate course of treatment. Your therapist will explain the findings of the examination with you and together will determine the best plan of care.

  • If you are coming to the clinic for male pelvic rehabilitation, an evaluation including an internal (rectal) examination of the deep pelvic floor muscles (there are 3 layers of the pelvic floor muscles and the deepest layer is accessible via the rectum) MAY be valuable to determine if pelvic rehabilitation is appropriate for you. Don't panic though, examination and treatment can be modified and a rectal exam is NOT required. Your therapist will always give you the option for an external (the most superficial layer of the pelvic floor muscles) examination if you so choose. Patients reserve the right to either consent or refuse any aspect of the examination or treatment interventions at all times. Your modesty and comfort will ALWAYS be respected.

  • Everyone is different. Frequency and duration vary greatly depending upon variables including symptom chronicity, severity, and complexity. You may benefit from multiple sessions per week. Therapy typically may last 4-12 weeks in duration as healing times vary per individual and condition. Generally, the more chronic the condition the longer rehabilitation may be. However, frequency of visits will change as you become more independent in managing your condition. Our goal is to minimize the number of sessions and empower your independence. Compliance with your home program is crucial to your success.

  • No! Illinois is a direct-access state which allows patients to access physical therapy directly without a prescription. However, you may want to check with your health insurance to see if a prescription is required to process claims. It is HIGHLY encouraged that your physician is part of your rehabilitation. We welcome physical therapy referrals and will inform your physician on your evaluation findings, plan of care and progress regularly.

  • We are currently in-network with many insurance providers including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Health Alliance, HealthLink, Humana, Medicare, MultiPlans/PHCS, and United Healthcare. Please call your insurance directly to verify coverage and benefits. For those patients with a Christian cost-sharing plan or are uninsured, we provide affordable self-pay cash rates with a Good Faith Estimate available before services are provided.
