Our human bodies are designed for movement and evidence shows movement is good for the body. Osteoarthritis is a common disorder affecting millions of Americans. However, you don’t have to let the diagnosis slow you down. Research shows that movement is beneficial for those suffering from this disorder. Chronic pain can be another disabling condition that affects various aspects of our lives. With the opioid overuse epidemic our country is experiencing from the abuse of prescription medications, physical therapy can be a safe and effective treatment option to help manage chronic pain.
Dry Needling
What is dry needling?
Dry needling is a technique physical therapists use (where allowed by state law) for the treatment of pain and movement impairments. The technique uses a "dry" needle, one without medication or injection, inserted through the skin into areas of the muscle. Other terms commonly used to describe dry needling, include trigger point dry needling, and intramuscular manual therapy. Dry needling is not acupuncture, a practice based on traditional Chinese medicine and performed by acupuncturists. Dry needling is a part of modern Western medicine principles and supported by research.
Sports Med
Have you been injured while playing sports or training for that big race coming up?
Pain is the body’s alarm system and ignoring that alert can cause problems down the road. In the digital era, don’t just ignore that notification or swipe it away, do something about it! Whether you’re experiencing pain from a ligament sprain, muscle strain, or repetitive trauma from your sport and/or training, physical therapy can help you. Physical therapy can help prevent fitness training or sporting injuries and allow you to perform to your max.
What is Men’s Health? Do men even have a pelvic floor?
These are commonly asked questions as pelvic health has historically focused on female conditions. It is time to change that misconception and get the information out so men no longer have to suffer in silence. Many healthcare providers are unfamiliar with male pelvic floor conditions and are unaware of the many benefits that patients can experience with pelvic floor physical therapy (PFPT). Male pelvic therapy health continues to vastly grow across the globe as more research shows its effectiveness. We are seeing more male therapists enter the pelvic health field which allows patients a choice for a provider of the same gender.
Men’s Health
Focused Shockwave Therapy
What is shockwave therapy?
Low-intensity shockwave therapy and trigger point shockwave therapy are non-invasive procedures for treating acute and chronic pain of the musculoskeletal system, as well as Men's Health by stimulating the activation of your body's cellular repair mechanisms and promoting vascular growth. Trigger point shockwave therapy is a highly-efficient, non-operative treatment of pain in the skeletal muscular system, and in physical therapy it offers a significant expansion of the user spectrum for myofascial therapy and in sports medicine. Use of focused shockwave therapy also shows excellent results in Men's Health for the treatment of vascular erectile dysfunction and peyronie's disease. Linear application of focused shockwaves make it possible to treat the entire corpus cavernosum without pain to help improve erectile function.
Vestibular rehab can be beneficial and effective in improving symptoms related to many inner-ear and balance disorders. People with vestibular disorders often experience problems such as dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, and visual disturbances. Evidence has shown to be effective at reducing or eliminating symptoms from vestibular disorders. People that experience these symptoms often avoid positions or activities that bring on dizziness or imbalance, thus reducing their quality of life. Not only does this impact their daily activities, it also increases the risk of muscle strength loss and inflexibility from being sedentary, reduced endurance/stamina, and injuries sustained as a result of falling.
